Q1.     How can I contact you?

E-mail is best.

Q2.     What supplies, materials and resources are suggested for these classes?

See materials.

Q3.     How is my child's performance assessed?

The grades your child receive are a compilation of classwork, homework, testing and contribution assessments. You can find rubrics for each class here.  For most classes, if a student completes all of his or her homework and classwork, but tests poorly, it is still quite possible to achieve a passing grade. Conversely, a student who tests well but does little homework and classwork will receive a grade that reflects this missing work. In this way, both effort and achievement are rewarded.

Q4.     How do I know if my child has homework to complete?

Up-to-date lists of homework assignments are available on this web site for students taking Honors pre-calculus, Algebra II Honors, Algebra II C2 , Algebra I (STAR) and Algebra II C1 Check these lists to determine which assignment is due, when it is due, and for any examples or instructions.

Q5.     My child is having difficulty with the coursework.  What resources are available?

There are multiple opportunities for extra help.  I've listed a few here.

There are resources listed in the assignments folder as well.  There, I often provide notes, additional instructions or a link to another site as support.  Students can also explore resources listed in helpful links. The textbook publisher also provides on-line resources for geometry students and their parents, algebra II and Honors Math 2 students and their parents, and algebra I students and their parents.

Q6.     How can I learn how my child is currently performing in this class?

Outside of the regularly scheduled reporting dates, just send me an e-mail; I'll reply within a day or two.  If you'd like to speak by phone, e-mail me a window of time during school hours when I can reach you, along with a telephone number.

Q7.     When are the major exams scheduled?

Exam schedules are listed on the school website.

Q8.     Are there extra credit assignments available to pursue?

There are generally no extra credit projects available, however don't hesitate to ask.  Extra credit projects may be awarded to help a student make a connection with another interest, not to take the place of incomplete work.

Q9.     How do I pronounce your name?

It's pronounced "shvah-tahl."  There will be a quiz on Tuesday.

Q10.    What's your schedule during the school day?

It's listed here.
