Ms. Munn's Resource Room
RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
1) RESPECT
"Ms. Munn, what do you mean respect?"
I expect that each person will be able to interact appropriately with each other,
themselves, and their surroundings.
All resources that are available should be used with care and the understanding
that they are not personal property, but for everyone to use and enjoy.
Proper behavior and self-regulation will be practiced so that everyone may feel safe,
and a proper learning environment will be supplied to everyone.
2) ORGANIZATION
In high school, students have the opportunity to practice different systems of
organization that will help them throughout school and life. This means being
able to keep an assignment book and come to class prepared with materials
appropriate for that class and tasks to be attempted.
Examples: notebooks, notes, pencils, pens, reading materials,
class assignment sheets . . .
A key piece in being able to carry out this expectation is keeping a list,
or syllabus, in your class notebook. Most teachers supply these to students
within the first days of school, or available on your edline.net account.
3) COMMUNICATION
In order to create the most effective learning environment, we need to be
able to communicate freely and to express feelings of stress and anxiety in
constructive ways. Everyone feels the stresses of peer relationships, academics,
and life differently. We must work at being able to experience these feelings
and communicate them to a safe network of people in order to help us be successful individuals working together.
All expectations will be supported and enhanced through practices learned
in the resource room and by the students following through with an I PLAN.
4) Attendance
Attendance is based on your ability to come to class, and be
seated, before the bell rings. A pass from another teacher will
be considered, if presented upon arrival to class. This is a school
policy and as a result of being marked tardy, the school
automatically assigns a 10pt referral to the student.
The school will automatically assign a quarter grade of a 59%
to any class in which the student has had more than
3 unexcused absences.
Students' grades are not marked down for absences in
Resource Room, but students are expected to return ready
to work and with missed assignments.
5) All Handbook policies will be observed, including:
- No iPods, or other musical devices
- No cell phones.
If they are put away in your pocket/bag/purse, you are
safe; otherwise they will be taken away for the class period
and returned at the end of class. This is absolutely necessary
given the dangers of academic integrity, and distractibility of the
learning environment.
- No food or drink, other than water.
If there is a medical need, please contact the nurse and myself
so that there can be arrangements made for snacktime.
